Maids quarters to Jam room in 5 days, (after-hours only).
Well this is what I'm starting with. I've been yapping on about this for months and since we've moved into our new place, I can now say that I'm ready to get this space usable.
Why 5 days you ask? Well I'm a guy who needs deadlines to get stuff done. Otherwise I take my sweet time and go through a few stages before I end up with what I'm happy with. So I emailed the rest of the guys and put a date on 27/07/2013, yup, 1 weeks time and also put an ad out for a new bass player and we have someone coming over to try out. Bear in mind that the room was full of all my garage stuff from the move, and I have been working on getting it cleared for a good 2 months, but I've been busy with so many other stuff in-between, that I got side-tracked. The target also is to use scraps and stuff that I have lying around, so that this doesn't cost me a cent. My garage was based on this idea and it turned out just fine.
Stage 1 is what I need to get done in the next 4 days. I spent most of yesterday cleaning the last of the crap out of the room and building cupboards in my garage to get stuff over. Next will be pulling out the waterpipes and waste water pipes as well as plugging up all the holes left by this and the cupboards and shelves that are in there at the moment.
I need to box in the window with 18mm plywood and fit a trim ring around the window so that it can be sealed properly, then add a layer of sound deadening and the trim with another layer of wood. This will mimick the sound panels that I'll make for the room and the bass bins. I also need to box in the upper air vent too. The walls need to be painted, the carpet and underfelt need to go in as well as 2 new double plug points as I have 1 single at the moment.
This will allow the room to be at least useable. My roof is currently exposed, but I've chatted to my neighbours and told them that we will be making some noise and that the roof may rattle, not much I can do there until I have broken the wall down between this room and the small utility room that is next door to get my final space of about 4.5 x 3.5m. The roof in the highest spot is a good 3.5m high.
This is where I was after yesterday, room is pretty much cleared out now.
I reckon that I have a good 2-3 hours a night that I can make some noise, so this gives me around 15 hours or so to get this done and dusted.
Should be fun.
