So I nearly had a hart-attack this morning...
PMRazr
This morning we were taking a look at the apartment that we are renovating (in our backyard) and our future renter had already moved some of her "stuff" in.
As I Walked into the main bedroom my eyes quickly scanned the heap of "stuff-junk" standing in the middle of the room only jump back half a second later. There is was, in the middle of the heap, a black guitar head-stock standing proudly with a simple name adorning it's dusty surface: Gibson. I Couldn't believe my eyes. This is the kind of thing that they make up in scenarios on GFSA, not something that happens in real life. My heart sank upon closer inspection of the guitar when I noticed that it says : By Bellini on the inside. So it's a bad fake or simply a display piece (I Think, unless Bellini was some kind of master Gibson-craftsman). So yeah, it's a 3/4 Size "Gibson" Nylon guitar in pretty bad shape. I Might still give it new strings and clean it up a bit just for fun.
Any thoughts? Have you ever had a similar experience?
Will post pics soon. (Maybe)

You ought to not be "peeping" on the new tenant's collection... and if there is a Bellini with a 'Gibson' label... so be it ?
The real danger here is that there is a female guitarist moving in and your wife duzzent appreciate your sudden "interest" :-\

I Asked her about the Gibson and she said I could have a look... No peeping was involved. As for my wife: I Am sure that when I one day eventually meet her she won't mind. Any idea what on earth "Bellini" is? Do they even exist anymore?

Carry a shotgun. You can never be too careful around wildlife. Especially with those long dangerous multi-branched horns.
("Hart" attack).
Ok sorry. ?

yep. bellini was indeed built in / around pinetown. my recollection - which may be incorrect - is that sipho mchunu (other half of juluka) played one of these specifically for the cheap & nasty sound.
i know that they did have an arrangement with gibson to use the maestro trademark (i still have & love my maestro guitar even tho it is a pos), but using the actual gibson name seems like stretching it a bit far.
