I can't entirely agree with this. Sooo many of the artists you even love and respect use backtracks. I do agree that it kinda 'steals' from the music. Live music in a perfect world should be exactly that . . live. But the reality is that with massive fan expectation, unless bands have ensembles and 8 guitarists, and 3 pianists, they won't sound as exciting as just playing themselves. I think backtracks are fine provided they used tastefully, and the live element is still the main feature.
