Mastering

I need some Mastering done on tracks I am to be releasing soon.

I'd like to know ALL my available options. I've done overseas mastering and now I'd like to keep it local, mainly cause my budget can't afford overseas again ?

Can you help identify as many businesses who do mastering. I'm sure this will come in handy for others too. So, to kick off:

How many tracks is it?
Tell you what, if you send me good quality (320kbps) Mp3s of the final mixes, I will master them for you and send them back. No charge. Then, once you've decided on which company you are actually going to use (and pay for) to master the tracks, you could compare what I did and what they did and make your choice as to which tracks to release etc...

I am basically offering to do an experiment to see whether the respective final products (those mastered by myself vs those mastered by company X), would sound significantly different from each other...

Rogan at Kelsey Mastering has always done a great job for me...and many of SA's top artists. The list is quite impressive. Definitely recommended. Plus he's a nice guy and he's very easy to work with. Used to be called Lapdust Audio. Mark Beling recommended him the first time and my search has never really gone much further than that as the results have been so consistently good on everything I've given him since.

That said, Arno's offer is very generous. ?

Yes, Rogan mastered our "Tightrope" single last year. Did a good job and he's not expensive. I think it was something like R600 for the track.

I'd love to hear a comparison between Arnos master and someone elses master.
Or generally two different masters of the same song.

If possible, I'm real interested to hear the difference's between unmastered and the masters you get back form whomever who do use.

Mainly for my own education, imho you've put out some really well produced tracks in the challenges and I'm super curious to see how a pro mastering session affects the mix.

Not now, but when I have my new studio set up in a few months, I'd be willing to give this kind of thing a bash. Good way to test/get used to a room.

mastering mp3 files? i think you may want to grab the wave files of the mixes rather!? (if they are available of course)

yes was about to say WTF re the mp3.
master ONLY wave files!

used TL for a few albums, did a good job on all.

I have mastered one album for an artist, one that i had not produced.
I dont really do mastering, leave it for the guys who do that pro
while i produce and engineer.

I said mp3's cos I didn't wanna waste my meagre 2 gig databundle for the month on downloading hi-quality wavs. Like I explained to Adrian, if I can get to within 90 percent of the "Pro"/Paid for-product, I'll be happy.

2Gigs a month! jeez shame. shit 2 gigs will run out for me in a couple of days hey., I think you should think about upgrading to another package
I have the telkom mobile/8ta 10Gb + 10Gb midnight bundle at R299 p/m which i think is pretty decent. (it still runs out on about the 21st of the month - im such an internet whore)

I think I'm paying R380 a month for uncapped 4meg internet (excluding line)
