In general, our cops are pathetic, clueless and under trained.
The way they handle situations like these is embarrassing to say the least.
They're simply unprofessional, they don't even know or understand what police brutality is...they think they have the right to brutalize citizens.
If you're referring to this particular case, I fail to see where the brutality was. Force, yes. But if police cannot use a necessary degree of force ghen they cannot apply the law. Lance, you were in the army, you know about the law of minimum force. If the cops use excessive force then that is brutality. The cops cannot do their job with nice manners alone. If that were the case we wouldn't need a police force.
The other day I was walking into Woolworths in Woodmead.
As I was walking in there were two cops in front of me also walking into the store.
Both were carrying R4 rifles hanging over their shoulders.
The store was kind of crowded, lots of mothers and children, etc.
So I asked the cops why they were carrying their rifles into a food store.
They looked at me as if I was crazy, their reply to me, 'what do you mean, we're not allowed to leave the rifles in our vehicle, that's why we're carrying them with us...and what's it got to do with you'.
Oh, awesome, no problem, walk around the f&*^ing store with your rifle barrels dangling all over the place, brushing up against children and shoppers.
Again, you should no better. You know that a rifle can be safe in such conditions, and you know that those guys will be in hot water if they are separated from their firearms. You can probably also think of reasons other than shopping why they might be there. I often see guys with rifles and bulletproof vests in malls. Usually when large amounts of cash are being moved. Again, asking a felon if he would please go away and come back in an hour or two isn't much of a deterrent.
