Well well well,at least 2 of these stereotypes were dashed this evening.

Saw a black group ply hardcore metal an our own hammeron rock hard...

Great show hammeron in spite of the technical glitches it was awesome...the band works well ,sounds good androcks hard...my Kinda scene.

Fellow forumites, make the effort we have a ~~future~~ star in our midst.

The musical sound of stereotypes shattering.

I'd love to see Hammeron's band some day. Too few SA bands, metal or otherwise, have really good songs, and they have really good songs.

I recall going to Botswana for a UB40 concert in '83. Black folks. Reggae. Gaborone is going to be one big party, right?

Wrong.

I don't want to say there was no excitement, but the locals were not universally thrilled about having UB40 doing a show in their town. My friend and I got talking to a young man from Gaborone at a Chicken Licken shop. We asked if he was going to the show. He said "no, not my thing. If they want that kind of money out of me then they should bring Black Sabbath out here." Further conversation revealed that there was considerable support for heavy metal amongst the locals, and, indeed, there were local (and non white) heavy metal bands.

And yes, Tamla has a lot of good musical ideas.
