The acoustasonic and the stratacoustic are very different beasts. Materials, electronics, construction all very different.

So when getting opinions, reading reviews and so on be sure everybody involved understands that these are two very different guitars.

My advice if you are looking for an electro acoustic with a nice cut-away and a slim body with a decent pickup would be the Cort Sfx-5. I have one myself and she plays like a dream and sounds very sweet

Those do look nice. What sort of price bracket do the fall in?

Well I got mine from Paul Bothners a few years ago for R2700, so you should be able to get it now for around R3000... Solid sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Abalone inlays. Good bang for your buck

I would suggest Tanglewood over Cort and G-series (non japanese) Takamines.

I bought a OM from Tangewood's historic series for under R4k on a special (R6k retail), honestly it gets within 80% of the Martin OM-18 it copies. I enjoy it more than my 8-series Taylor at the moment.

Non-custom shop Corts all sound the same, generic and cheap.
