New songs...

So after a long, hard journey we've finally finished recording, mixing and mastering the next few songs for our band, and put a 5 track album together with 2 songs we recorded a while back.

Great guitar tones, good production.

Really like the songs - well written and the chorus' have that "Huge" element which is tricky to achieve without a lot of synths.

Vocalist has a voice that sits perfectly in the mix. Cool harmonies that helps with filling up the sound.

Keep it up.

We agonised a bit over the vocal harmonies, we were kind of at the point of the project where we were starting to be unsure of what sounded good! So good to hear that!

BTW, all synths that are there are actually guitar -> delay -> blue sky reverb.

Bloody well done. If I have one crit it's that the guitar solo is too long. (and That's my only one..)

Great guitar tones too. What gear was used? Also what studio was this done in?

I never thought I'd get that feedback on a guitarforum ? Is it that the solo is too long, or rather that the same ideas are repeated so it feels long?

We used a voxAC15 (greenback) and 68 bassman (2x12 blue dogs) in stereo. Lead tones are all my strat. Rhythm tones are mainly an Epi Sheraton and a bit of strat iirc. Mic'd with a 57/58 and Avantone ribbon on each amp. 57/58 into Neve portico preamp and ribbons into focusrite isa2. Then into RME multiface.

I must be honest here and give huge credit to the mixing - it really transformed the tracks!

Studio wise the drums were done at Heritage Sound (above Marshall Music CT), and the rest in my home studio. Although we did the guitars somewhere where we could make a bit more noise, but with the same gear.

For this type of song you'd have to have a supe solo to make it interesting. I'm of the opinion these days that a solo should either be short and great (4 bars) or long and epic (12 bars +)

But don't go changing anything though. That's only my simple opinion ?

I really like your tone and your use of delay & reverb. That shimmer setting on the Blue Sky gets me everytime i hear it ?
I would love to hear how your playing sans delay.
