Kind of a double-edged sword - it works out cheaper than the "real thing" and are a good way of getting "the tone" on the cheap, but they don't hold their value like the real thing either. I have seen some clone builders who actually build them better than the originals, with better workmanship and components, sometimes also with better or more usable features than the original, but often keeping lower prices than the original means lower quality components. Another important question is if it breaks in a few months, will the guy still be around to fix it?
and what do you think about soldano amps ?
Soldano do one thing well, IMO - the high gain sustained lead thing, a-la Santana. Not a fan of them otherwise.
