I have two songs on radio airplay in New York, they are also on Reverb-nation, well, to my surprise i got a request via reverb-nation as to my interest and availability to go on a tour that this promoter is putting together, in the forthcoming ''fall'', he lives in California. Sadly, i had to inform him that i lived just a tad toooooooooo faaaar away, and that also, i wrote the lyrics and music for the songs, but most definitely did not sing them. NIGHT DRIVE is sung by a friend of mine, Bruce Myrdal, and TWILIGHT OF THE TIGER by a 16 year old girl, Michela Maselli, from Monte Vista. My shot at fame, and i had to turn it down, oh well, so it goes. I did inform him tho' that i had lots of lyrics for any of his other ''stars'', if needed. So, who knows what might come of it???? The positive side of this is that our music from SA is ''seen and heard'' on the other side of the global pond.

Very interesting - congrats are in order as there are millions of songs out there online and the promoter liked yours ?

so whats stopping you doing the tour.... ??? get the band together and do it ....
the states are but a plane ride away..... and if the tours legit ( many fake offers out there...) move heavan and earth to do it.... simply because many a time a break like this may happen only once in a career ...... and maybe your music is in favour now but in a few years it may NOT be ...timing in the industry is everything....
i would first check the tour is legit ..... find a laywer to draw up a contract with the promoter or to examine the one he sends you ...and make it happen .....
this may be your moment ..... and opportunity in the music biz seldom knocks twice, cos if you don't do it there's thousands of bands ready to fight for that slot
i say do your background checks on the tour and be brave and take the plunge even if it costs you airfare to US out of your pocket ... it's a gamble sure but one you should take .......
maybe this is your 15min of fame

Thankx for the comments. I have both of the songs on Zone Radio, an it station here in C Town , they will play on request, the songs are in my name David Butler. They are also available on cdbaby.com. My idea is that if i can sell enuff' copies, than i want to donate from the sales to various animal shelters. Also, i wouldn't have the foggiest as to how to link a song to here on the site. But, thankx agin'.

I think I found it ?
Go on tour, man! What more reason do you need besides having an awesome story to tell your grandkids? ?

This is also an opportunity for your musicians. What do they think? As Keira says, the USA is not on Mars and, if it's legit, this could be great for you as a song-writer, and great for your musicians as performers.

Okey dokey, With both of the songs, i wrote the lyrics, then the chords, then sat with the singers and rehearsed the songs. Then i went to my good friend Richard Black, who has been playing, recording and engineering music for 45 years, played what i had for him, kicked them around a bit, then Richard created and recorded backing tracks which i rehearsed with both singers [at different times], then we did the recordings. So, there is no band as such, but i know enuff' musos if push comes to shove. Richard was amused by the ''invite'' and was rather wistfull about touring the US of A. I did mail the guy back, and i have had no reply, sooooo - ??????
NIGHT DRIVE was done for a competition for the movie of the same title. The film was shot up in Vaalie land, and a comp was put out for local musos to write and record the title track, did anyone enter into the comp from GFSA.

Those were also my first thoughts, my profile does state rather clearly where i live, but, i've had peeps in the past from another site in the US of A wanting to get together for a jam, 'cos i live in Philadelphia, they just do not notice that it is Philly, CAPE TOWN. Sooooooo ? ? life goes on
