Page/Hendrix sound with Peavey Classic

Hey guys.

When I was in Cape Town for Metallica I picked up a second hand Peavey Classic 30 and about a month ago I got my hands on a Fender Blacktop strat.

At the moment I'm looking for suggestions to get in the ballpark of Page's Song Remains the Same tone (specifically the No Quarter solo).

Also, I'm trying to get Hendrix's clean Voodoo Child tone (the slight return version). The bit just after the solo when he turns the drive off.

I also have a Boss DS2 and volume is no object, thanks all!

EDIT: I have tried both settings threads on the Ultimate Guitar site, doesn't really get me what I'm looking for.

Ive just listened to both references, although Ive heard them a million times ?
Both instances sound like full spring reverb, which has been toned down? The older valve amps I played on years ago... this was pretty much their dry tone (if I remember correctly).
Of course Im open to correction here. Perhaps have a look at a mate who has a spring reverb pedal, to test?

The blacktop strats are dual humbuckers if I am not mistaken? So if you want to get close to that Hendrixy sound you will either need to coil tap the buckers, or drop in a pickguard with a SSS or HSS configuration. It has a swimming pool route, so either should fit.

The Blacktop does have a coil tap, you can see the combination on Fender's site.

I came pretty close to Page's Stairway tone but the setup is not ideal, I know.

Except Paige played a LP standard, which didnt have single coils. It was a '59 (mostly).

He also played a Danelectro live on In My Time of Dying, Kashmir, White Summer/Black Mountainside medley.

ThomasN, I believe that the lead on the recording of Stairway to Heaven was actually played on his Telecaster. Perhaps another forumite can confirm this??

Maybe. Page used Telecasters a lot in the studio, and it subsequently emerged that his Les Pauls had lots of trick wiring and extra switches under the pick guard.
