@DaFiz, if you're referring to "Made Up My Mind' I think it is a 16 bar number in 4/4 with bar 14 a 6/4 bar.
Ouch... How am I gonna explain that to my fingers ??? Thanks Pete... I like the song and would like to get the band to play it. 8)

Yeah, it's a great number....I think our band should do it as well, if you don't mind.

Digging James Burton and Dale Hawkins!
I'm working on killing some bad habbits, mainly a lazy right hand technique.

Trying to use the minor pentatonic scale so it makes sense, playing along with backing tracks.
Getting there slowly, but still a long way to go. Of course, having fun all the while. :-[

Trying to get my loopstation thing going but it's hard going. But a heck of a lot of fun hey.

Episode 3068 of Understanding Compressors: A Personal Odyssey. In today's exciting (not) episode, my continuing struggle to find a compressor setting that works well for piezos, both picked or strummed without compromising either. Yeah, I know I ideally need a setting for each piece, but I'm trying to get some general "work-all" patches saved. Actually I think I might be getting somewhere with a low (-40 dB) threshold, a fast attack, 50ms release and a gentle ratio (1.40:1)...
BTW - is it just me, or does everyone (well... those who give a damn about such things) find a compressor setting they love one day, only to utterly hate it the next?

Doing some scales practicing, using my own personal hand made rainbow fretboard chart; pretty and useful. Later going to go back to Theme and Variations from the Magic Flute. How I'm getting the timing better is turning the metronome to silent and visualising the song to the beat before I play it. Helps a ton.
Oh yes, and not to mention wading through instruction manuals of Sonar and Reaper, to find that there is also an intermediary manual for someone changing from Sonar to Reaper. I will persevere.

I find this with drive pedals sometimes. I may not be a Mika, but my tastes seem to change every now and again in terms of tone.

I started learning the sweep section starting at 2:56.

Today I was going over some SRV technique. His odd way of tuning, which is almost exactly like Jimi's, as well as some of the licks he used.
Very Chuck Berry, Albert King influenced stuff. The rhythm section is easy to grasp, but his off-beat signature riffs and leads take a bit of learning ???

I started trying to play a solo I wrote last night...slowing things down in reaper and preserving the pitch is a great practising tool but it helps for writing too! I've pretty much got it down at the speed I wrote it at but I must play it 1.25x faster...
Of course it has now resulted in a solo that I can't play at full speed but to me thats a good thing because it means I was able to write something that fits the song rather than limiting the solos composition by my own playing ability.

Yes... I like... that's a composer talking.

I have been doing Ben Bad's plectrum technique and it's good stuff

I discovered this book "100 killer licks and chops for blues guitar" by Phil Capone which my wife had bought me three years back at bibliophile and just put it in the book shelf. I am pleased to say that I plugged in the CD and can actually play the first 5 exercises smoothly ?

I finally set about learning the guitar parts for Sultans of Swing this morning. I've put it off so long for some strange reason. Nothing too hectically difficult so far, but there's a lot of it. ?

Trying to work out a passable arrangement for the English folk song "Horn Fair". The only version I know is Spiers and Boden with Martin Simpson (iirc) guesting, so they have rathera fuller arrangement than I can manage. Plus there's one chord I can't figure out (yeah right.... you find a tab).
PeteM
Which chord are you battling with?
As I see it three chords only. Dm, Bb and Am.

having fun with quartal harmony ....so simple but so interesting
