Emailer #2.........this is for a forum member who said in a thread that he likes to point sellers in the direction of market prices.
JT#2: "Hi, i like the guitar and the colour, but not the price, can you work with me here so that it reflects more of a market value that I can afford?"
FFF: BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHA, no actually I replied saying that this is the price, maybe this guitar isn't for you?
JT#2: "There is a nicer RGA on Junkmail for R200 less than yours, I believe that this is more inline with current trends and market values"
FFF: BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHA, again, not my actual reply, I'm not interested in other sellers or their guitars, this is my price, this is my guitar, and this is my country,once again, maybe this isn't the guitar for you?

You can expect as much tho. If ever you are selling a guitar with aftermarket pickups and the stocks sitting on a shelf somewhere, put the stock pickups back in. Almost certainly you'll get more selling them individually.
People seem not to care about good pickups in second hand guitars.

3 loonies this weekend with me actually meeting one.
Phone call:
JT#3: Hey there, do you still have the guitar?
FFF: Yup, Still have it I do.
JT#3: I am very interested, but you seem to be asking a premium for it.
FFF: Well it's got R1500 in pick up upgrades as well as as Gator Deluxe hardcase. Where are you at with the price?
JT#3: I'm sitting at R1800 and you can keep the case.
FFF: I'll drop the price to R2400 and keep the case.
JT#3: We're not even close to being on the same page here, meet me halfway.
FFF: No go, the pups alone are worth upwards of R1800-R2000.
JT#3: So R2400 is your final price hey?
FFF: Yup.
Then this dude was quiet, hmm-ing and aaaah-ing for a good bloody 5 minutes, saying crap like , well, erm, you see, erm, geez, you're not making it easy on me, erm, nice guitar, hmm, I dunno, think I should buy and part it out and then erm. Eventually I shoved him on speakerphone and carried on playing Age of Empires.
JT#3: you still there?
FFF: Yup
JT#3: Oh cause I just heard a trumpet in the background
FFF: Yup, my observation post is being attacked by some idiot swordsman.
JT: so you're not going to budge on that price?
FFF: Nope, sorry man, if you're not going to buy this guitar then I'm going to have to say cheers then.
JT#3: click...........the guy hung up.
The gentleman caller.....this guy was just too nice
JT#4: Hey there, I'm calling about thr RG, you're in the ****** area?
FFF: Yup
Made plans and he pitched up at my door about 10 minutes later. Nice bloke, friendly, firm handshake, the one thing that I hate is when a mans man shakes your hand and it's like wilting lettuce.
JT#4: Nice guitar, great condition, awesome pick ups, I want it, but I have R1500 on me.
Ahhhh crap, I just KNEW that this one was too good to be true.
FFF: Sorry bud, I'm firm on my price as per the phone call as per the advert. I feel it's more than fair.
JT#4: Hang on I may have some extra money in my car
He comes back with an extra wad of notes in his hand and I also see him stuff some extra notes in his pocket.
FFF: You better have an extra R1200 in that hand as I'm not budging on my price.
JT#4: I have R400 extra, common, lets make a deal and you can be shot of that guitar
FFF: R2700 firm, or R2400 without the hardcase.
JT#4: He then proceeds to pull out 2 more R100 notes.
This was when I lost it.
FFF: Please don't waste my time, my asking price is R2700 for the guitar with the case or R2400 without the case, I am not budging on my price. If you don't have that amount of money on you, then we don't have anything more to discuss.
He then pulls out ALL the money and he's at R2500 and he says:
JT#4: Okay you got me.
FFF: so you want just the guitar for R2400?
JT#4: No I want the guitar and case for R2500.
I told him, thanks for coming, but this is not going to happen. I then turned away and went back to my garage and push the gate opener on my way back, over my shoulder (all James Bond like), he stood in my driveway for a few seconds and then turned around and got into his car and then burnt some killer 11's down my road.
Then Saterday night another guy calls, from Durban.
JT#5: Loving the guitar, is that your best price?
FFF: Yup
JT#5: can't even come down a few hundred
FFF: Nope
JT#5: Ok then, but I still have to arrange a courier to get this to me in Durban and that's almost R800, can you come down R800?
FFF: Nope, I don't see why I should factor in the price of a courier in with this guitar. Does that sound right to you.
JT#5: It does if I want to make the sale, don't you want to sell the guitar?
FFF: I'll tell you what, I'll work in the price of the courier into the sale of the guitar, so the new price is R3500 and that will be shipped to you.
JT#5: Erm, that doesn't sound right right, you've just added the courier fee on top of your normal price.
FFF: I said I'd work it into the price and I did.
JT#5: you think you're smart, you think that I can't get another guitar like this, because I can you know.
click....................I hung up.
He calls back:
JT#5: it seems that we were cut off.
FFF: No I hung up on you, because you're being rude as hell
click.....................I hung up again.
Played the guitar last night and in all honesty, if it doesn't sell, then it won't be the end of the world, I'd rather keep it than have to sell it. I was thinking about putting some cheaper pups in, but then I'd have to buy cheaper pups first as I bought this guitar with the Dimarzio's in already.

So I pulled the ad. Last night was the final straw. I will never sell anything on Junkmail again........the place is loaded with deadbeats anyway.........I look back at this now and I'm laughing, but last night, i came this close to probably spending the night in jail.
No details as it's a worse script than that of a 90's loving episode with a crap load more swearing.
This guy caught me on a very bad day after being at work for almost 16 hours. I'd had enough.
SO once I kicked him out, I pulled the guitar out of the case and practiced wasted years from iron maiden.
Also realized that the guitar is so kick ass that I don't need this crap from buyers.

For some or other reason, a lot of people want everything cheaper, or for free. I must add not everybody. There are honest buyers out there. I for one will try to negosiate, but with the full amount in my pocket. If the original price is not worth it, I do not enquire. But then again, it does seem that I am not very "normal" 8)

here goes. It's loaded full of drama, I was dead tired, it's been a long day and actually it's been a long 10 days.
I get a call during the day from a guy from jhb wanting to come and view as he's in the area. I say sure and say I'll drop him a line when I'm on my way home and give him my address. I asked him that I'm firm on my price and I'm not neg...AT ALL!! He says cool, it's what he's after and he has cash in hand.
I get home shit tired and he's at my gate, seemed nice enough and we get in, kids eating supper and dad's feeling bad cause he had to work OT. But hugs and kisses all round and we head for my study.
I hook him up and the whole time he's checking my gear and other guitars, PA etc and this already made me regret inviting the guy into my house. But no worries. He sits down and straight away asks for a pick, I dunno if i'm gonna come view a guitar all the way from JHB, then I sure as hell make sure that I have my own pick, better yet that I have my own amp, (if small enough).
He starts to do what i suspect is doodling, but it's freaking sh*t doodling, bending the bridge and at one point he tried to bend the neck. This was when I got a bit ticked and said, whoa whoa whoa.....pay first before you do an around the world or throw it into the crowds. He grins and this is when it all went pear shaped.
JT#6: Okay, I want it, now lets talk money.
FFF: aaaaah f******king hell.......seriously? Lets see the colour of your money pal.
He throws down a wad (I use that term loosly as wad means a lot of notes, this wad had 5 x R200 notes). SERIOUSLY?????
JT#6: So there you go......
FFF: there I go WHAT?........that's R1000 bud, last time I checked, you're R1700 short.
JT#6: like I said, let's talk money, that there is where I'm at.

By this stage my wife walked in as I was raising my voice somewhat. She asked if she should call my neighbour, (big massive farmer type guy), I said naaaah, he's still civil.....sorta.
The guy then exits the house babbling the whole time about he's the buyer, and he's doing me a favour and he's come to see it and I'm kicking him out.
FFF: yeah yeah, that's nice, not interested, get the f*** off my property f******* deadbeat hobo. I was actually really hoping that he'd turn around and take a swing at me, so yes I guess that I was trying to bait him, I just wanted the police report to say that he hit me first and it was self defence from my side. But nope.....he just walked out.
so...........I've made a pact.
#1. No more having random f***nuts at my house when selling gear
#2. I will never sell anything through Junkmail again........
#3. After playing wasted years on the Ibby last night, I decided not to sell her.

I can't believe people have such a lack of respect for other people...seriously... if the seller of the instrument stresses that it is not neg price then don't try negotiate the price... ESPECIALLY trying to drop the price by R1700... if there was maybe like a huge chip or ding and you only saw it once you picked up the guitar you could POSSIBLY go "how's about R100 off for that ding?" but not sommer...and even then if the guy says no, you pay the price or walk... simple...

I've never experienced this kind of stuff, must be honest. In fact, when my AT-200 Ibanez was up for sale, I never got a single call.
I've sold pedals, guitars and amps on GT and have always had positive experiences, for the most part. ?

I have no problem with taking some off if I misrepresented the guitar in ANY way, but the guitar was pretty much MINT.
I got snaaied recently on my old HIWATT halfstack. The owner of the acoustic that I got represented it as an AEL model and it turned out to be an AE with the model number ripped off from inside the sound hole. He was battering on with me over R500 and I said hell no, price is firm. I was planning on giving him almost R2400 in spares that HIWATT sent me a while back to service the amp and I decided screw it....
