Hi There,
Ok so I have this Samick 15 watt solid state amp, it was my first amp I ever got, very much in the practice amp category, it got relegated to the cupboard as I upgraded through my time as a guitarist. This amp sounds pretty DAMN AMAZING. I lent it to a friend who is learning guitar and whenever I go and play through it it blows us away, I still haven't used it with a better guitar than what is available but I was thinking, can I take this amp and turn it into a stomp box? It has two channels clean and distortion so maybe even somehow build it into a two channel pedal.
What do people think? Would this be hard? Anyway I could almost test it before I tear it apart? Who would be able to do this? I am pretty electronically retarded although if its not too hard it could be a cool project.
Let me know...

You could make a pedal that sounds like it if you had the schematic ( the runoffgroove overdrive pedals , and most ofthe sansamp stuff, is designed like this) and you might be able to pull out the pre-amp, where most of the sound is shaped, and box it up as a pedal. But the power amp and the speaker, and the speaker enclosure, still contribute a lot to the sound. So it might not sound the same after that anyway

Hmm I guess Im going to have to start by opening it up.. Will get back to on that ?

Why turn it into a pedal? Why not just rehouse the components and use it as an amp head?

Well I would love to hear its drive pushed through a tube amp is my thinking but dont know how to do it of course..

Go for the head idea. Does it have a fx send and return? Couldn't one route it from the fx send to the input of a tube amp and use it as a pre-pre amp with a foot switch? I have no idea if this would work or damage your equipment so don't try this unless someone confirms that this could be done.

Remember that an amp is a combination of preamp and speaker. If you like the drive as it is now, you might not like it through a big amp and speaker. Does the amp have a line out? If so, take that and plug into your bigger amp and see what it sounds like.
ANyway, even if you like the drive of the amp, it'll be simpler and easier to get someone to copy the preamp circuit and build you a new one, rather than hack up a whole amp just to get the drive section.
