Hopefully this is the right place to post this - sorry guys new here,

Some questions if anyone is feeling helpful -
Firstly - Does anyone know what this cort is? Can't seem to find one thats exactly the same. Also what is it worth as a ballpark estimate - want to see if I was ripped off ?

Additionally the bridge is lifted really high - guy who sold it to me says thats how you adjust the strings to change the "action" - complete newbie so just want to make sure this isn't in fact broken ? you cant see too well in the pic but its lifted right up-

That bridge is so high you can roll your spare cable up under there!
Does it have any form of model number?

Would need to go check - there is one think it started with 901 - but the photo I have is low res.
Is it bad for the bridge to be that high?

Feel like such a newbie :'(

From what I can see in the blurry the picture it actually looks like it's not the bridge action itself that's too high - your guitar has a Strat-style tremolo bridge and it looks like the springs that tension it are too slack and the bridge assembly is at quite an angle. Could you post clearer pics?

That's a Cort ST - they never really had them on their web site, but made them as an entry level Strat type. Not amazing, but decent and well-made. On a par with the G-200 now. Probably made in Korea though...

The bridge lifting is simply that the last owner probably put heavier gauge strings on. Two-stud bridges "float", balanced between the tension of the strings on one side and the springs in the back. To level out the bridge you just need to tighten the two screws on the spring claw in the back. Tune down a bit first as the strings will raise in pitch as the bridge comes down. Rinse, repeat until the bridge is more level, but still leaning a little forwards.

Thanks Psean, I'll have to find someone in my vicinity with the tools to lower it a bit, blargh - well good finger exercise for now I guess.

I have screwdrivers somewhere ^_^ will post a better picture when I'm home - glad to hear I didn't buy a complete piece of junk - it was between this and those sx guitars from china. Budget was somewhat limited

Just remember, the key to becoming a good player is practice, not to spend time online ? Hehehe, a sickness most of us suffer.

Thanks Mike - used to worry about playing as I have tiny hands - then saw a girl with even tinier hands playing - Yngwie Malmsteen far beyond the sun- insane. One day...........

Technique is kinda a can of worms. There's really no right way to do anything. If we look at some of the fastest players in the world (Talking in terms of guitar-sport now), not all of them have "correct" technique".

At the end of the day, as long as you put the effort in, you'll get something out. I always used to believe I needed to learn to use a pick properly after many years of playing fingerstyle. A few years later I find out Andy @ PGS usually doesn't use a pick and now I'm back to fingers again.
