I am definitely with you on this one hey. If games were more affordable I (and this is my opinion on the internet so I am entitled to it ? ) reckon more people would buy originals. But there are profit margins to be met so the prices must be xyz... but by people "striking back" and copying games it has forced the companies to come up with tougher copy protection.
This is, of course, the old argument, but I don't agree with it. ? I simply don't buy the AAA titles when they come out at the inflated price of R800 an XBox game, which means I still haven't played the new Tomb Raider or Bioshock yet. But if you wait, the prices become more reasonable.
I find it hard to swallow that guys with PCs costing thousands just for the GPU hardware have grounds to bitch about game prices; same thing for people with a big LCD screen, home theatre system and a console or two. If you can afford the gear...
That said, platforms like Steam are great in that if you're patient and wait for the specials, you can pick up loads of high-end titles for very little money. There's nothing like that on consoles except for second-hand games, and the prospects for that great market are looking a little bleak.
