Because probably 90% of us are decendants of generations and generations of farmers that imigrated here to keep doing just that.
At least thats the case in my family, been here for about the last 3 centuries and nearly everyone in my family at some point had something to do with farming, be it growing up on a farm and doing something else the rest of their lives or visa versa.
I grew up on farms and at the moment I'm working towards being able to afford my own, somewhere evolution screwed with my head.
