Stock levels on PRS SE models

Does anyone know a shop that carries PRS SE?

I've been to the following major retailers:

music connection - nada
marshall south - 1 PRS SE
marshall woodmead - 1 PRS SE
toms braamfontein - NONE
toms sandton - 1 PRS SE

Most stores carry them or can get them
There is a distributor in SA, I think its Rockit in Cape Town
I think it used to be Marshall Music and Andy McGibbons

If you are looking for a specific model, the best would be to ask a store to bring you one in.
I havent seen a lot of SE models in stores lately; for the past couple of years, thats all you could find in stores, now they are few and far between

Which one are you looking at getting?

The problem with just getting a store to order one is that I haven't had a chance to play it... or even something similar (with the stock levels I have found visiting the larger stores)...
Currently I am looking at a SE Custom 24 Royal Blue.

I've got a thing for blue guitars...

The features I like:
-The birds... lol... was called "pigeon" throughout school (cos of my surname).
-Trem
-Coil tap
-The newer ones have a more carved top

Yes... the pickups might not be the MOST amazing... but the coil tap gives some flexibility.

Methinks these things are scarce as chickens teeth at the moment.

I did find the "distributor" for PRS in SA... they have a pricelist on their site... but their prices are higher than I have found in the shops ??? Could be the shops are carrying pretty old stock or something...

Probably doesn't help but I know Marshall CT had one or two of the SE Custom 24 in stock the last time I went around there. Looking at getting one myself, especially the new model. ?

I am at the point of phoning the other coastal marshalls now... Going to a wedding on the South Coast the last weekend in June... so I can stop past those...

Or else I am just going to have to order off the net, without playing them ?

I can tell you one thing though... They are a pleasure to play. Neck was something to get use to for me as I've been use to playing a FAT Les Paul Neck or a super skinny Ibanez neck. The scale length I found on those Custom 24's just lovely ?

I did jam the ONE PRS SE that Marshall Woodmead as, it's Custom 24 anniversary model... I liked how it played, but I would really like to try it through my amp...
Living 80 - 100km from all these shops means I need to find out where there is stock and then make a plan to play the thing...

Yeah... I checked them out also... the SE I am looking at is going to be R7000 before shipping and duties... I can just as well order blindly from the SA PRS Distributor who has the listed price of R7495 on their website...

I have sent them emails...
Music Connection said they sold their last blue one over the weekend... it must have been hiding in a dark corner somewhere as I was there last weekend and couldn't find it...
the guy reckons they go for around R6500 if the prices are the same.

Nice, yeh SE custom 24's are common and sell quickly in music stores so it shouldnt be hard to find; the last time I saw them they were around R6000 but i dont know now with the exchange rate. The distributor you wont be able to order from, as they dont generally sell to public. The price they have on their website is most probably the retail price and not cash price what a proper store can offer you.

Music Connection is your best bet, I dont recall seeing a custom SE there on friday...but I was more interested in all the DVMark/Markbass they brought in ?

Music mate woes rand just called me back... they can order me one ... but now it's R8000... that's the discounted price... >☹

I told him I am not gonna just order over they phone without just playing it... so he said he will ask them to bring one in for him anyway cos they sell a lot of them...

Music mate boksburg emailed me back and said the supppliers are out of stock and it will take 3 months to get me one...

It doesn't have to be... but those are the ones that I've found that I like so far...
Going to prob have to look at ibanez etc...
I like the coil tap and the trem... wanted to see how it felt/sounded to play the 24 fretter also...

Yeah...I have contacted the guy and gotten more pics. It's got some damage...not major... but I can get a 25th anniversary one brand new for R6000...

Eish... tempted to just go buy it... but when I am spending in excess of R5000 I kind of want the one I want...you know?
