So I ordered this online.

Hoping that it will give me consistent, reliable, bump-resistant mic placement. It'll also save space on small stages!

Detaches easily too. Just not entirely sure what mic I'm gonna put on the end of it. Tully g12, e906 or boring standard sm57.

I've used all three in various contexts and, for me, the e906 has given me great sound on stage. sm57s are a bit brash/dry and the g12 in studio could have used a teeny tiny bit more edge. Not tried the g12 live yet tho... might be a whole other thing.

Only issue I'm having is that the bottom lip of the cabinet is a bit too wide for the "temporary" style clip to get onto it but with the "pro" style mounting system, this won't be an issue. Just unsure as to whether I'd really want to drill into that red tolex to screw the mount onto the amp...

Mike looks a little too close to the cabinet for my liking, but if you are happy that's all that matters.

I used to have a few of the LP "Claws", which were similar. Designed for drums, but worked in all kinds of applications. They could fit on anything from 3" down. The only thing I found was a tendency to feedback - you do ideally want some kind of shockmount or isolation from whatever you are clamping it to.

I'm using it with an Audix i5 and this is really just for live use. If I get any feedback issues, I'll definitely get a shock mount.

I got myself the Prodype TT 1 instrument mic. It cost me under 500 bucks and man, the sound is brilliant. I was stunned when I heard the tone from a mic in that price class. I mic up my Fender Hot rod in a back stage room. The sound is so clear through the monitor it sounds like my amp is next to me.
