In keeping with the agreed upon limits I pushed myself to keep it simple: One drum loop, one bass and one guitar... with a twist. Drums are simple enough (touch of reverb), but the bass is split into neck pickup and bridge pickup (one take though), Neck is compressed while the bridge has distortion and an envelope filter.
The single guitar is driving two amp sims, one delayed by 12ms and with different but complementary amp EQ and then panned left and right. Didn't use any of the piezo signal though (supposed to be heavy dammit). MIDI out from the guitar is driving two synths - one (NI Absynth) reinforcing the guitar sound and the other (NI Pro53) arpeggiated to provide some movement and a touch of a Mootron phaser to liven it up. The Pro53 is right down in the mix (about 10%), but it still cuts through like a razor.
Very rough mix - this kind of thing can take me weeks to really get each thing to stand out or blend in perfectly. No track EQs (sounds were carefully selected to work together) or compression, just a rough compressor on the main output bus (which is a bit pumpy in retrospect).

Here's my version of heavy - this is very much a work in progress - This definitely was not done in one take in fact I had to redo some riffs so many times that my fingers feel like they have been through a shredder.
