So I understand it like this

Exactly, the definition of introversion/extroversion is all about where the person gets his energy from. The dictionary definition is:
Extraversion: the act, state, or habit of being predominantly concerned with and obtaining gratification from what is outside the self
Intraversion: the state of or tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one's own mental life
But for this very reason, I have just always assumed that the average musician would be an extrovert, and perhaps even more so the average guitar player. What is the dream of every guitar player? Is it perhaps to be on a stage with bright lights beaming down on you and crowds wailing in euphoria at your amazing performance? I'm just having a hard time reconciling that image with the personality type of an introvert. Introverts do not generally get energy from standing in the spotlight and hearing crowds chanting their names.
Of course my definition of the dream of every guitarist might be wrong. I fully realise that some people have no such desire but just love music and wouldn't want to do anything other with their lives than live off their love of music. So by performing in front of a crowd (or whatever size the group may be), they are not doing so for the thrill of having hundreds or thousands of eyes and ears fixed upon them but rather because they love making the music and would have been equally fulfilled doing it in the privacy of their living room or under the shade of a lone tree in an open valley - only that would not have generated much of an income. Is that about right, Keira?
