The Hubcaps recorded a cover of 'Feelin' Disconnected'.
The first mix is by our drummer and engineer Graham Hadley.
Graham's mix is butter, smooth and creamy.

The second mix is from JoBurg's own music master, Sven Larsen.
Svens mix is wholegrain bread, knobbly, crunchy and fiberous.

The second is cleaned up a lot more but way too compressed.

Wow. 2 completely different mixes, but both are good none the less.
My 2 cents is that elements of each should be combined. I find the first one more natural and warm, but very muddy. There is a lot of low end that hasn't been filtered off that's just adding to the noise. The second mix was really clean, that's both a pro and con. It sounded quite sterile, but then again, everything was audible. And yes, also very compressed, but I didn't have so much of a problem with that as it may be what your engineer wants from it.
So, I'd work on the first mix, roll off a lot of the lows to clean it up a bit, and give the guitars a bit more bite.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I love this age, being able to email music across the
planet to someone and receiving their mix of it in reply.
