i am keen to try the LP and the ES kits , may need pickup upgrades , but the rest looks alright

I'm quite opposed to a basswood 335... I'd try it but I'm still opposed...
For a traditional 335 and LP I'd try GFS. They're mahogany and maple with set neck construction

Blackbeard kits aren't bad at all! I got myself a Mahogany Les Paul and a Tele and impressed with both. Pickups can be replaced but no need if you just wanna play casualy

was super impressed with the finish and quality of the wood - it really wasn't what I expected to be honest. I thought it was gonna be a cheap build just for sh*ts and giggles but the finish and cut of the wood truely is comparable to a real Les Paul I have. I didn't even expect it to actually work when finally plugged into an amp! But it did (-;

Hardware isn't great... but still better than I expected. I asked the guy at backbeards what to expect before i bought the kits and even he said that if i wanted seymour duncans or something similar, ill have to fork out for it myself - what i really paid for was the shaped and finished wood, not s much the hardware

Does anyone know where in SA to buy aerosol paints for spraying a guitar?? Ive read that nitro celluslose lacquer is the best...? Any ideas?

Also, how do you start a new thread on Guitar Forum?? I couldnt find it...

Nitro is neither better nor worse. Nitro is older. Nitro also ages while any good poly coat should be able to be applied thin but still be hard enough to concuss an elephant.

Theres that one brand of SA spray paint that says that its quick drying lacquer but I don't know if its legit. Its the black spray bottles, coloured lid, SA flag in the logo... I was actually checking them out at mica this weekend while looking for a nice urethane clear for my tele.

Mica also had Rust-Oleum which I've heard of being used as a finish before

I'l go have a look at Mica or Jack's Paints. Is it true you can pretty much use any paint except and enamel?
