Hi,
Thanx for the replies.
My guitar is a Gretsch G5122DC. I am using Gator pedal board with built in power supply. I also use planet waves cables to connect my pedals on my pedal board. 1 Zack Wylde wah, 1 DD7 delay and 1 Boss TU3 tuner.
The amp did it from day 1 basically. Even if i plug my guitar in straight without pedals. My guitar cord is also a high quality noiseless cable. All cables are fairly new.
a thought - Wen i bought my amp at Music connection it had one of those European plugs on it, so the replaced it with a standard plug. I wonder if it cant be a problem too. I did check the connection on the plug and it seems connected well though.
When playing clean tone i have no problem. The problem comes when switching to overdrive. I use the amp overdrive channel. No overdrive pedal.
Thanx for the help. ?
I think that two-prong Euro-plug that you've swapped out is at least part of the problem, but I'm not the one to tell you how to fix it ?
Also, depending on how much gain you've dialed in, the overdrive channel can get quite noisy. I get quite a lot of buzz on my amp when switching to the gain channel from clean. You'll find that even software emulators like Guitar Rig have a lot of noise on some of their higher gain models, and that for recording purposes a noise gate might be required.
On my old HRDx, I switched out one of the 12AX7 pre-amp tubes (I think the one in V2) to a 12DW7, which lowered the gain quite a bit and gave me a much smoother sound (although there was still plenty of gain on tap), and also helped to reduce the noise levels of the amp when not playing.
