Guys, being a truthful and honest guy ha ha ha ha. I was inspired as a young boy by Trini Lopez. I started with my first Xmas present guitar in 1969, a Gallo Ace white with grey smudges. My next was a Ibanez 12 string which I saved up a whole R65.00, it was a fantastic guitar in those days. My first gig was school band in the late seventies then on to some gigs in the Pig and Whistle in PE. Then married life took over career army etc so just played at home and occasional fill in here and there. I have some time now and will get the old fingers going again. Have already met some really nice guys on this site.

Welcome Kev
There was plenty Trini Lopez in our house in the 60's. My Dad's favourite was "The Folk Album", I can still remember most of the songs.
Get those fingers going ?

Welcome! Nice gear you have there!

Thanks guys. Ja good old Trini, played mainly Gibson's his early one being a Barney Kessel. A Trini Gibson goes for around R50 000.00 bucks today (new one not an old one does not have the chunk a chunk sound of his Barney). His two live CD's Trini Lopez at PJ's and More Trini Lopez at PJ's sell on Amazon for between R700 - R1000 bucks apiece. You guys might be blown away what some of your old men have in their LP collections. ha ha ha.
Without getting too nostalgic though. An early word of advice (Think very carefully before getting rid of your old kit - a guitar pays you back in many ways). A few years ago you could buy a great Tokai for under R4000.00 bucks man oh man I wish I had bought one or two of those. A great PRS was under R8K. (Still one of the finest built guitars). Anyway I ramble. Thanks everyone for the welcome. This is a cool site.
