Anybody for a solo?

Arno-West · 2013-05-08T22:18:59+00:00

Here's a piece I'm working on, but creatively, I've hit a brick wall. If anybody is willing and to do a solo over it for me, pls help yourselves. I'm not fussy, so you may do whatever you feel would work in the song. Mix is still a bit rough. Tempo is 130BPM. Download the track, import it into your DAW. Snap it to the grid and it should line-up. When you're done, PM me and we'll take it from there. Should anybody take the time and effort to help out, Muchos Grande!

Yeah.. I'm still in... it'll be soon... ish

Fantastic. So it will be.

Joe Moore wrote Ja... Where's the pros and some teachers?.. PJh ? , Pete M ? , the new dude who trained at GIT ?
Ha ha ha! I think Evo scared that GIT off. And anyway, I don't think I will use something with 15 different Mode-changes in a 30 second part....

The track is coming along nicely. I did a clean ditty in the 2nd "Verse" bit from 01:21-01:50. So that's sorted now.

Costafonix informed me that he will be sending a part and I will be waiting for Alan's as well.

If all goes according to plan, it should be done by the end of next week. Will keep you guys posted.

DEEFSTES, EVO, DOMHATCH. You guys still in???

I will definitely try but I have little say these days in how my time is allocated. The baby has most of the decision making powers in that regard. If I do though, I suspect it would be more for personal enjoyment and not necessarily of much use to you, considering the skilled company I find myself in. ?

It would indeed. It would also render the rest of our mere mortal attempts futile ?

Arno-West

It's your hole now Dom. Just finished a gig. Will check the part over the weekend sometime...thx.

evolucian

well, here's my unfinished draft of it so far. Still have to do the g/F# section followed by the C#m solo. If anyone is interested in listening, here be the link:

btw... I know all the spots are taken... just finally got to it this morning/afternoon. Will finish it up tonight after my hand heals ?

Alrighty, I've managed to slap something together as well and had barrels of fun. I've started working with "A-Funk - Mix 2.mp3" as the base so there have been other entries since which fill the gaps that I had recorded over. So feel free to use or discard whatever you like. I will not take offense if none of it is used seeing as I did this mostly for my own enjoyment and I never deluded myself into thinking that I'd trump these other maestros on the forum anyway ?

At any rate, here is my take mixed in with the backtrack:

And here is my take isolated so that you can simply pull it into your DAW and use whichever pieces you like:

Pretty awesome piece of guitar work there Evo, I love it! Dom, still looking forward to hear yours.

Arno-West

Deefstes EVO thx. Will check tracks and make space for you.guys. Check back next week.

THE BIG DAY HAS ARRIVED!

Ok boys, here it is, the first “Final” – First Mix of the track now re-named FUNKY DONKEY – by Various GFSA Members.

Firstly, I want to thank all you dudes who sent me parts and apologize to EVO for not using his (you didn’t send me a raw track bud). Also DOM, I’m still waiting for yours….

What I found very interesting whilst I was doing this, was the way that everybody approached the track. In the end, all you guys “felt it” in almost exactly the same way. Also, although everybody used different guitars and gear, which I will list in this post, the clean sounds and dirty sounds used by the different players are within 95% of the same ball-park.
So that tells me that everybody here has the same perception of what “Tone” is.

Anyway, thanks again guys and I don’t know, but should we do this on a monthly basis? I have loads of half-finished tracks and ideas we can stuff around with. Give it a thought.

Here’s the tech-spec and detailed rundown.
