Wow, thats an interesting guitar. How does that lipstick sound in the middle? How do you usually use the pickups, or do you use all positions?
Its more twangy than a Strats middle pup. But to be quite honest, I rarely use it. It will work well for country, though. I also had to drop it lower as the other pups, as it is right in my common playing position and my plectrum hits the pups housing...
I wanted a Thinline with a humbucker in the neck pos and a single coil in the bridge pos. The lipstick was just a bonus, if you like. Combining the bridge and neck (position 3 on this guitar) gives you a great sound, combined with the body, of course. It has lots of bottom and the bridge pup gives it extra mid-range and snap. Played through a Fender valve amp, that tone snaps your head back. Brilliant and I love it!
The bucker on its own is great for darker sounds, or for the sort of "Clapton Woman Tone" when playing blues.
I was quite surprised by the bridge pup, as I thought it would be more Tele-like - thinner and twangier. But its actually much warmer than my Strats bridge pup.
