New Matching cab day!!

OK so I picked this baby up!

Very amped about it! After alot of searching, I found out that the speakers in there are 4 x Celestion Super 65's... Not the most well known speakers and only made for a limited run and rebranded for Hughes and Kettner as Rockdriver ultra 65's

edit: the model of the cab is a Hughes & Kettner SC 412

Sounds good... alot smoother than the G12T 100 i have in the combo.

But something weird happens when I plug the cab into the 'External speaker' plug of the combo... the combo's speaker works too. I thought that it would cut out?
And also, the cab is 8ohm and the combo speaker is 8ohm so now we're down to 4ohms if both run... or am I missing something?

Weird that the combo speaker doesn't cut out. I'd also have assumed it would.

So I browsed through the amp's manual to make sure that all was fine...

The section about the external speaker plug had this:

EXTERNAL SPEAKER: Use this jack to connect
external speaker enclosures with an overall
impedance ranging from 8 to 16 ohms (an 8-ohm
cabinet, for example, would work nicely). The
internal loudspeaker remains in operation.

So everything is safe and good... I just wish I could turn off the combo speaker. Its a bit hard to unplug it, since the combo is a semi-closed back... So it has a small 1 inch slot at the bottom, which isn't really enough to work through to uncouple the speaker when I want to use the cab. Pity

Looks great... Love the look of it. Once you have the other speaker disabled, you must let us know how it sounds on its own.
