Until such time as I have my act (and gear) together and can submit my own entries, the only criticisms that I feel qualified to give are positive ones. Out of all of the members on the forum you guys have taken the time to do the work and submit your entries. You guys are special. Thanks!

Yummmm. Some delicious entries here. All of them IMO should be on radio, maybe not pop/5fm radio per se, but still radio.. Its thoughts time, and please remember, this is my subjective interpretation, so you should take my comments with a pinch of salt

rcarosin - a very good track, but too melancholic for radio in my opinion. The vocals where perfect for what you where trying to achieve with them, but I think the average radio listener wouldn't quite 'get' it. Wonderful track though.

Brent - The production and arrangement of this track was excellent, I wanted to vote for you based on that alone, however, sticking to the theme of the challenge, I don't know how close to pop that could of been. The chords where rather progressive. Your song reminds me of something that should be featured in a good movie.

Brian - You have come such a long way. Your track was great, if I where in the 60-70's era, it would have thought it was mind-blowing haha. I'm not sure if it would be playlisted on any modern radio now, but that wasn't what the challenge was asking. You got my vote.

Evo - Wow. What an intro, what a solid solid song. I think with vocals, this could easily be a pop friendly radio hit song. You also got my vote!

Pete - There is no question about it that your track was amazing. Like Brian's, it had that real old-school pop feel to it. I think it was the sound you used, and melody. It was good, again, don't know how radio friendly it is for modern radio, but your tune would definitely be playlisted had we been in a different era.

V8 - You are getting better with every entry. The production on this was absolutely sterling, and I really really did enjoy your song (like really). But it lost my vote to Brian, cause I thought Brian was a little closer to the theme of the challenge. Your track does have radio potential, but then I think there would have to be some kind of melodic lead instrument. Your track grooved man, it really did. Keep this one for another challenge for sure. Btw, how did you do the drums? they sounded damn good!

Congrats everyone - great entries here, especially since this month's challenge was very tricky.

For me it was a toss up between evolucian and briang; Brian's got my vote in the end because I sat there with a silly grin on my face for the entire song. Not the most quantifiable criterion, I know, but in my opinion it captured the spirit of the challenge perfectly.

As I said before, well done to all of you who entered; I feel privileged to be part of a forum with so many amazingly talented people.

Thanks dude, appreciate it. Glad you liked. The vocals on your track had an almost Placebo quality to it and the arrangement and song as a whole was very well done. :goodtimes:

Everyone has brilliant entries this month and so much so I could hear the actual radio station it would have featured on. Well done again guys!

*side note* I was actually considering changing the chorus lyric to include like a bullet as it would have been appropriate considering my subject, lol... but alas no one wanted to sing it... frikkin pansies.

Hey-hey, finally got some time to listen to all the tracks - well done to all for entering!

Really tough competition in the A category - all four entries were excellent. If I could I'd spend my three votes on Evo, PeteM and Adrian's - I thought they were the most commercial/radio friendly in their respective genre's. Hattip to BrianG, thought you also put out a damn fine tune.

First impression was of a Tweak tune - except they finally found a great guitar player ? - would dig to hear it with vocals...C'mon...

Thanks for the feedback bro, always appreciate your input! I like parts of the tune, but overall I reckon it sounds like I threw a verse, chorus and middle 8 into a blender and hoped for the best... alas, a bit of a mess resulted...:-\ Did want to sneak in a melodic lead guitar instead of the vocal break, using Evo's excellent soloing instructions, but hit the four track limit (1xdrums, 1x rhythm guitar, 2xsynth).

Them drums be "Addictive Drums", with only minor tweaking to add a little reverb, otherwise it's an out-the-box patch - demo'ed a few vst's (EZdrummer, Superior Drums, Steven Slate) this month and liked the ease of use over the other vst's recommended. A big upgrade from the NI Kore/Pop Drums I was using, the hats and cymbals just sound soooo much better.
