No ones discussed what amps they were using, is that because the amps weren't visible on stage? ...the amps along with racks and racks of additional gear, cabs and mics were hidden off stage. ?

Nothing on stage besides the 4 of them, guitars and a drum kit.

Metallica are not slayer.lol.

I don't know what they've used on previous shows, but for this show they had H&K Tri-Amps, Mesa Boogies and Marshalls.
It's anyone’s guess what and when they used the different amps, as long as it sounded good then 'nothing else matters'. ?

Should be. Metallica record and upload all of their live shows to their website, their first Cape Town performance was uploaded way back when.

Oh man that was a hoot..........good find. The guy doing the interview was just blunt enough to be funny..................."the MYTH of rock and roll"...good one.

It's true though I have to admit, cut out the booze and fast life and you get so much more focus. That night in JHB, I swear that Metallica could have done another set no problem.

Too true unfortunately...
Reason been ? partly to music isolation with reference to huge gigs of popular artists with juvenile folowing...?
Id like to say... it'll wear out eventually...20 years on now....it hasnt

In saying that.RSA drink and drive laws are flawed and unregulated...
100% no tolerance would be preferred..
I blame the Taxi industry for that really....who uses a taxi in RSA ?Its cheaper to get a front row seat at the gig..LOL
which I would extend to cell fones and driving....sh#t ive seen metro cops doing it...come on..?
strangely this lawlessness attracts me,which might explain to why im still here...LOL

hey , ever since I can recall and going to shows ppl been getting hammered,,actually if I look at footage from Woodstock , ditto ppl getting hammered ....

and hey I gotten hammered at shows too...... will someone please tell me Uriah heep at the dome were good ,I don't recall but do remember wishbone ash and deep purple....jeepers and I don't remember REM at all,not one single lil bit of the show...but I did buy my own ticket ?

at local gigs its the Hammered that pay the musos,
the more they drink the happier the owner and re books the bands..LOL
Maybe a world first at major gigs here..a Hammered Section.(caged of course)...
if you still walk straight...you cant get in..LOL...

Yes 'Hammered' section and 'Grumpy old Men' section might be a great idea! ?

I wasn't drunk at Metallica (only had 2 or 3 beers) but I got really excited and did cause a bit of chaos. I was in the seats far at the back, which I regretted - it was pretty much the same as watching the band on Youtube!
So a few songs in we snuck into the standing area and found some like-minded moshers. I felt it was more enjoyable to respond to the energy the band was putting out than to just just sit there stroking my chin and analysing Kirk's fingers on the big screen.

But being intoxicated is a waste.. I remember Smashing Pumpkins i was so shroomed it was terrible. And Iron Maiden some drunk hairy guy smacking me twice in the face while crowd surfing, aahrg >☹
