I have been seriously considering dropping to nine's because I am having problems with my knuckles (I spent too long dragging them on the ground).
I would say, the D'Addarios - If I recall correctly they were the first strings that I ever bought, about Z$8.00 a set in the early 80's, and I'm still using them today (10's and not the same set! - before someone comments)
?
that's a classic... ?
if you don't mind me asking, what kinds of problems? i've been picking up twinges in my kernuckles, more pronounced in my picking hand than my fretting hand, but on both if i'm honest. and they seem to be less inclined to clench when i make a fist. (my grandmother - piano teacher and player extraordinaire - used to tell me i'd get arthritis if i clicked my knuckles. i'm starting to think mebbe she was right all along...)

Dom, I have been getting very stiff fingers (knuckles) after a gig, on both hands as I hybrid pick and bend quite a bit. Some of the gigs have involved over four hours of playing but even a two and a half hour set is enough to do the trick.
Perhaps it is from lack of practice, apart from a gig a week on average, I probably practice/play for about an hour and a half.
Perhaps it is from poor diet - I live a bachelor's life and have been very slack when it comes to veg and over the top with alcohol. I need to lose about 20kgs! A Phat Baas Dad of note!
I didn't crack my knuckles much as a kid (I think that most of us did to some extent). Advice from those in the know would be much appreciated.
