I guess there's alot you can ask on this topic, like what are some tips to choose a good band name.
And what inspired some of your band names, or maybe a cool story behind your band name.
It's quite an important thing for a band to have a good name, people hear that before they hear your music lots times

I know how most of those really (sensitive) emo, edgy, whinecore, angsty kids who sat at the back of the class, wore all black, wrote sad poetry and got beat up type bands choose their names.... ? The same guys who say brutal a lot ?
Inanimate object + Abstract concept (verbs, emotions etc) = Emo band name
e.g. Killswitch Engage, Suicide silence, Senses Fail, Matchbook Romance, Mayday Parade, August burns red, Molotov Solution, The Agony Scene, Bring Me The Horizon (really? How must I do that??) etc. etc. etc.......
Now we try make our own ? -
Toaster Enraged
Frying Pan Anxiety
Bookshelf Weeping
Fuzzy Slippers Apologies
The Toenail Remains
Feather Duster Bloodshed (Brootal!!!!!!!)
DaFiz
I tried making one up from the bits of everyone's name...
Dave,
Mi
ke,
Rod,
Justin 8)
Dark Smuj... but they said it sounded kinda stinky so we just took a name that was no longer in use after the previous band broke up.

These things go in fashions. But ultimately even a totally stupid name, like U2, gets associated with the music and not what people would have thought at first. Just avoid clichés. That's the number one rule. If you pick a style of name that's really in fashion, you risk looking really dated later on (Imaginary examples: '60s "The Beats" '70s "Rivendell", '80s "Berlin Salon", '90s "Chumnectar", 2000s "The Knives" 2010s???)

We had such fun with our band's name. We wanted something to do with space and cowboys but did not want Space Cowboys. This was around the time of last years Oppi-Koppi and we gave the assignment to our camp that we can't go home unless someone came up with something cool in that theme. Milky Way Bootleggers, Gun Groove Galaxy and a lot of other interesting stuff, finally we came up with Sun of the Gun and it stuck. Other bands I've played in: Pee-Wee renegades (we were like 14 years old at that stage), Soul Order, The 8th Day... Ja I can't even remember all the stuff I have come up with in the past.

My first band's name was Not Applicable - we needed a name for a battle of the bands and writing "n/a" next to "band name" on the entry form seemed a good idea at the time. The guitarist originally had "Asparagus Vein", being the first two words he saw when opening a dictionary to random pages.
Taking a lesser known song name is another idea; I've always fancied Citizen Erased as a band name...
The problem is that if the song is well known, you risk people assuming you're a clone of the band ("ugh, do I really want to hear someone ripping off Matthew Bellamy's falsetto?", etc.)

Something that's become more important in the last decade or so is making sure your name plays well with search engines - i.e. it should be unique or easy to search - try looking for 'Live' or 'Fun' on Google

I once read a thing on how to choose your stage name if you're a Blues Artist. It was friggin' hilarious. Can't remember all of it, but it went something like this.
Choosing a Blues Stage Name:
1. Combine the following:
- A physical disability
- Some sort of fruit
- The name of a dead American President
(examples) Blind Lemon Jefferson, Cripple Pumpkin Washington or Deaf Mineola Reagan etc....
It gets a bit ridiculous when you start coming up with names like Lactose-Intolerant Peach Nixon etc.
There were other requirements as well, like to call yourself a real BluesMan, you must have spent a night in jail in Memphis and so forth. If somebody wants to Google it and post it here, it will be laugh.

The first band that I played in was called The Dose and did mainly seventies punk covers. Finding a good name is a pain in the butt!

+1 ! ?
I also think Tamla Kahn is a pretty cool band name mind you, and Krakatoa just promises all that is epic, so that's a great one as well imo.
TheFourthDimension
Well, you all use axes, so how about Blunt Force Trauma?

But ja, choosing a good name is difficult, i remember sitting with the other band members for long periods of time just saying all the random stuff we could come up with, like a long chain of thought almost

Good thing you prefixed it with the English definite article "The" and not the Afrikaans "Die"...
