When I moved from Europe to SA 8 years ago , the first two things I was looking for was good music and good Fly Fishing .
(maybe out of topic, but since I am pretty very well known internationally :-[ in the world of Fly Casting and FF , I find my way there pretty easy and fast .
I am glad that South Africa have Yellow Fish and load of brilliant Fly Fisherman , some of them are terrific good guitar players !)
In music and Guitar related things, I started with Village Walk Blues Room-first concert I was watching was Dan Patlansky - I was blown away .
I couldn't beilive someone so young can have already "grown" and very well formed blues soul (soul means literally -soul)
Second thing was Lucky Dube band, I played with them like a guest guitarists at Carnival City , fantastic guys !
It was amazing experience for me , whatever tune I start to play, they jump in with their "in blood installed reggae " !!
We become great friends , an I am proud to know them .
Like a third , I met PHJ at Tanz Cafe at his live gig few months ago .
It was awesome experience for me, again.
I like his playing and music character , he retained that "vintage" approach to guitar and music arrangements , but using modern equipment and sound.
There is some latent power in his playing, not 1000 bpm shredders playing, but more silence between two notes .
The Master Art of playing guitar with silence , very often missed out from modern guitar players .
Also, as one of the first few KPA owner in SA , I am delighted PHJ choose Kemper for his recording .
I hope he will choose it for live gigs as well, this thing simply rules with its natural raw tube amp sound !
(this time profiles were from Legacy, a Steve Vai amp if I see it very well )
It is very interesting fact , that most of KPA active members on KPA Forum are in their golden ages , vintage ? guys over 50's ,few of them even over 60's !
Cannot explain that , except that must be something very vintage and high quality in that unit when old R&R guys craving for it .
All of them ,including me ,were puristic fundamentalists in the terms of equipment - only tube amps, no Fx no modelers no shit ...
Until they (me too) tried Kemper ? (thanks to one real Gentlemen , Lance is his name ? )
Looking forward for your next live gig Pete ! 8) (and bring your Kemper )
Cheers,
Zoran
