What guitar to buy ?
babbalute
Hi all,
Am thinking of getting a guitar to join a Big-Band/Jazz band as a quiet guitar player in the backgorund. I think a hollow body type guitar should be suitable for this. Does anybody performs in this type of music at the moment and what guitars are you using ?
Anybody selling a suitable instrument at a totally low cost ?

Hey babbalute.
Congrats on the big band gig firstly. You will grow much as a musician.
Secondly, there are quite a few hollowbody guitars on gumtree.
For high bang per buck ratio in the lower price bracket, i would suggest the Epiphone 335 dots, Cort Yorktown, Ibanez Artcore range
Cheers

As well as the Tokai ES-335 copies
I hate that word copies...
Tokais are great in their own right!
I owned, my friends plays a beautiful Chinese Tokai that I cant deal with it being just as capable as my Gibson ES-335 was...
for a fraction of the price, big fraction!
Sure there was a clearance sale on here recently for a few Tokais?

Buy lots of cotton wool just in case you're placed in front of the brass section or some dude with cymbals!!

Hi Guy's thanks for info and links on jazz guitars. Need to seriously think playing the Tokai ES union jack, the price justifies having it stripped and worked on a bit to make it look like a guitar(IMO)
Will shop around for a while, there must be some bargain somewhere waiting to be picked up.
