Are you an Engineer or Scientist?

Are you an Engineer? If so, what type? Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Industrial/Geo-technical/Mechatronics/Process/Systems/Structural etc. Are you a Scientist? If so, what type? Physics/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Computer/Chemistry/Quantum/Nuclear etc. What fields do you work in/or are you interested in? I am always looking to network and meet like-minded people. (when Engineers and Scientists say like-minded people, they usually mean people with a few screws loose on the headstock) I am a Mechanical Engineer working within the consumer product design/mechatronics/manufacturing industry but interested in Image processing, Artificial Intelligence and gray/black box modeling techniques.

I had to do a six month course in quantum for my degree...That stuff was interesting and eye-opening and completely counter-intuitive.

So for pseudo-monday chuckle:
Heisenberg is driving down a road, and geez he's flying. He notices a metro cop monitoring, but it's too late. A couple hundred metres later he's pulled over and the cop says
"hey buddy, why the hell are you driving at 200km/h ?"
"Dammit dude, now I'm lost!"

I only realized a few weeks ago that I will probably never be granted a visa to travel to the USA... They actually have a section on the application form which asks if you have any explosives training and experience.

I was very very surprised once at university,when one of our electrical engineering profs, who was a musician himself, asked all the musicians to raise their hands.
Amongst engineers (at least the electrical/biomedical first years of 2006) musicians are very well represented. About 50% of raised our hands, and of my good mates of other engineering branches, I'd say it's around the same.

Well I'm a shredder so although I can play an instrument, apparently I have no "feel" and therefore luckily can't be accused of having a soul. Which is just as well 'cos you're not allowed to have one as a chemical engineer in a giant international oil corporation. Har har.
