Frequency boost mod for slap-bass . . . help

HI guys

I have a Washburn CB-15 OV 5-string bass in for a possible mod.

My client would like a 16kHz (or similar) boost switch, on this bass, particularly for slapping n pickin'.

The axe has Eden active pups.

Just a quick prod to get ya clever bass_peeps thinking . . . ?

The guitar already has great eq control, where from here . . ?

Any thoughts . . ?

You need to find a circuit diagram for the EQ circuit and post it so we can check the filter frequencies.

I've been thinking about this further and 16kHz is getting close to the top of the audible range. Does turning up the treble control to full not provide boost in this range, or am I missing something?

Some bass players like having it on a switch because its easier to go from fingerstyle to slapping by flicking a switch to engage a preset eq rather than fiddling with three or four knobs. The 'slap switch' on my Cort Curbow was an adjustable mid cut, rather than treble boost, but I never found it all that useful.

I also think 16K to be too high for most applications. A mid cut in conjunction with an overall boost to keep unity gain should work nicely. You'll need plenty headroom for slap and pop tho...
