Anyone going to Bon Jovi? PhilX is standing in for Sambora

Reinhard

Apparently John and Richie had a lover's tiff and Ritchie left the band. So PhilX is touring with them, which means we hopefully get to see him on stage with them in May ?

For those who don't know PhilX

OK so now everyone can post how they won't be caught dead at a Bon Jovi show, but at least check out PhilX. He does some great gear demos for Fretted Americana.

Aaargh! I totally forgot that PhilX tours with them... I'd love to see him live... now I wanna go! :'(

deefstes

Am I the only one who's disappointed here? We're going to see Bon Jovi and I would have much preferred to see Sambora on stage than Phil X. He might be an awesome guitarist but he's not Bon Jovi.

As much as I love Phil, I wouldn't be caught dead at a Bon Jovi concert! ?

I'd much rather prefer to see Phil X live. Minus the Bon Jovi part. ?

No doubt, but I'm with Deefstes here. It's like Joe Walsh falling sick and the Eagles subbing in Steve Vai: of course he's "better" but he's not THEIR guitarist. It took me years to accept Steve Morse - utterly brilliant, and cool, though he is - as Deep Purple's guitarist.

Saw them when they tour the 'These Days' and 'Crossroads album' (Last good album of theirs) , loved the concert but the organization of the event (I think it was at JHB Stadium) was shit. Never again! Also like Philx, but now it's not Bon Jovi, it's PhilX and Jon Bon Jovi.

I for one am disappointed that Sambora is not coming, looked forward to seeing the original band live and even though the last two decades of the band's music is utter crap, I still prefer to remember the "old" bon Jovi, they have always been a very big inspiration in my life, and actually the reason I bought my first guitar when I was in high school.

I was a fan of the Slippery When Wet and New Jersey albums, but since then Jon Bon Jovi crooning his cheesy rhyming couplets in every song makes me want to vomit.

For me, they stopped making music after "these day" and chasing mtv based capital. But that's just me.

The major problem is, that since the newer stuff ruined their music for me, the oldet good stuff is also judged. Not listening to them at the monent.

I spent R1950 for 2 tickets via Big Concerts pre-release ticket sales on the day the gigs were announced. Now I feel short-changed. If anyone wants to take them off my hands for what I paid, let me know!

I went to the last one and in all honesty, it wasn't that bad.........but I know enough now not to want to go again.......lol.

Metallica in April baby.......!!!!

I'm not all that into Bon Jovi, but I really dig Phil X, I'm not even into that sort of guitaring, but his work ethic and enthusiasm is inspiring.

I'll put a tick in the "thinking about it" column!
