How do you know it was discovered in South Africa?

I know the 59 "African Burst" is a South African guitar, but this 60's?

Yes, this is another one. A while back there was a story of a deal gone bad, where the SA guy who was supposed to broker the deal "screwed over" the yank who made the initial low ball offer for it. It had a Gibson metallic type sticker on the body that has since been removed.

I am not sure if it was on loan or whether he bought it. Apparently he played it while in Germany and that guitar has since been listed as sold. So he could well be the new owner. At the same show he was playing Rory Gallagher's strat and the Peter Green Les Paul as well.

Without mentioning names and too many details, the story is. ?

The buyer, a well known guy in the trade in Joburg, paid about 50K plus a new R9.
Then he sold it to one of the big American collectors.

I spend a lot of time in the Vintage Room at Connection...there's a bunch of cool vintage guitars in that room, not sure about the one you're referring to.

and yes, they are very coool about playing that guitar....no worries at all, and that counts for all their stuff... I hve heard they were selling some of that vintage gear, u know more about it?

No, that's was a different guitar.
The "lady walks into a store" guitar was the 1960 that once had a Bigsby on it, the one Stuart took to the Texas Vintage show about 2 years ago.
The 'African Burst' was many years ago.

Just to clarify.

As far as I know, the guitar Bonamassa is playing is the Mark Grace burst.

The one in Joel's thread is the 1960 that once had a Bigsby, but now has no Bigsby and the holes are filled.

And finally, the 59 African Burst is the one in the photos...so we have 3 different guitars being discussed here. ?
