When I just joined this forum, I was told to wpie every time that I played. So, I used to play my guitar and I wiped every time. And pretty thoroughly. But I dont do that anymore. I pick it up and I scratch around and then I just hang it up again.

I don't wipe after every practice, but every now and then as well as with restringing I do a proper clean.

In my gig days i didn't wipe either, result was a heavily tarnished bridge, rusty pole pieces and worn away clear coat. Worst was i had to change strings twice a month. Was playing often though. The worn bits is actually what got me into refinishing ..

I try wipe, when i remember. I have a gloss black nitro guitar with nickel pup covers.
If it has been a hot day then my guitar tends too look like a teenager's sheets.
sweat has definitely messed with the Finish where my arm rests
