Offtopic: that's usually because the power supply is not separated enough. Bleeding to ground between the points where the group channels take their +12 and -12 (on opamp mixers) will do the trick I suppose.
@Capricorn: Is it faint or clearly audible?
What you could do (I never use metronome) is to program a drum track that you mute on playback/master. You can keep it a simple rim shot every beat, about 10 mins work. If that is audible as well, it must be outside Cubase. I'm sure that if you mute a track, Cubase mutes the track allright.
