3pdt stomp switch

Hay people

I am in the process of building my own effects. But the biggest prob I had so far was obtaining the 3pdt stomp switches. I don't want to import if it is not necessary. Does anyone know where I can find some?

This has been discussed in other threads fairly recently. I can't remember which exactly, but If a search doesn't pull it up, I'm sure sume of the other pedal modders/builders will point you in the right direction.

The problem is that I can get all the foot-switches that I want but they all only have 6 pins and i need those with 9 pins to add the on led..

Yea, the dpdt's are easy I know.

Look up Millenium bypass for a way to add an LED with true bypass using a DPDT. Just beware though that in my experience the DPDT switches all fail in short time (yep I'm now up to 100% failure rate on the switches I used).

Yep Alan, definitely down to the quality of the switch - I've only ever found the same type though and they are rubbish. The 3PDTs are apparently built for use specifically in stomp boxes and seem to last well. As far as I know 3PDT's aren't available in SA so you are syuck with importing or using a Millennium bypass on a dodgy DPDT.

I built - well assembled - my first pedal the other day! DOD overdrive copy, the starter project on DIY stompboxes.com.
Pretty cool and loads of fun! Now I want to hook up a switch and LED and see if I can box it successfully. Still plucking up the courage to plug it into my tube amp! haha.

I think I'm going to order an A/B switch kit from General Guitar Gadgets in the next week or so. They have the blue 3PDT switches for $6.50 each (most places seem to sell the same switches for between $10 and $20), plus shipping. You want me to add to my order?

If you are going to order a bunch (and save on shipping) then Effects Connection (http://www.effectsconnection.com) is cheaper at $4.50 each. I ordered for them (when they were on special), shipping was reasonable and very fast (to NZ). Pedal parts plus are even cheaper at $4.00 each, haven't ever ordered from them but they seem to be highly though of. $10-$20 is a crazy high price.

I'm ordering a kit anyway (saves me the time of pulling all the parts together and ordering them). for a few switches, it might work out cheaper because it'll piggyback on my shipping costs. I'll order Monday evening, so let me know if you are interested.

Maybe everyone who is interested in getting some of these switches should say so here (and how many you want). I there are enough of you, you can band together and order yourselves from Effects Connection. If there's only a few takers, I'll add them on to my order with General Guitar Gadgets.

I'm trying to decide if it is better/worth it to use a 3pdt switch or to use the millenium bypass (http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/Millenium/millen.htm) with a dpdt switch.
Either way i think i'll have to get the switches abroad, as the local dpdt switches don't seem to last... ?

It seems there's not that much price difference between the 3pdt and dpdt, probably not worth the extra effort for the millenium circuit?

Anyone else interested in the 3pdt switches? I'll probably take 4 or so. What are the shipping costs?

Shipping Charges:
5 - 13 ounces = $12.50
14 - 20 ounces = $13.50
21 - 32 ounces = $16.00

The kit I'm ordering falls into the $12.50 shipping category, adding in four switches bumps it up to $13.50 and moving to 10 takes it to $16.00. There will also be local mail charges to send from here to you (I don't know exactly how much though).
