Nitebob Ummm...in these 'unplugged' and 'acoustic sessions' there is sometimes a guy playing a wooden box...percussion wise. Is there a name for it? :-[ Thinking about starting an acoustic trio...me on vocals and guitar, one box player and maybe a fiddle to do filling...
AlanRatcliffe Probably a cajon - a wooden box with a snare inside. Plenty of guys making them and it's an easy DIY too. Unless you are talking about the wooden "stomp" boxes with piezos in them that some blues guys stomp on while they play guitar - sometimes called "Mississippi drum machines". ?
Chocklit_Thunda Tis a cajon ? really fun. I build em. ? You can use someone to play them or you as the guitarist can sit on it and play it using a bass drum foot pedal
AlanRatcliffe Oh, and if you want to learn, check out Heidi Joubert's YT channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/cajonschool
stompie I saw a Dan patlansky acoustic show and his drummer played one of those, i remember being amazed by the sound he got out of it, and it's easier to carry around then a drum kit ?
Keira-WitherKay Yeah cajuns are great, and way more than just a box ... I use a " flamenco voiced " one made in peru , cost more than some cheapies but well woth it
AlanRatcliffe Keira WitherKay wrote Yeah cajuns are great, and way more than just a box ... We didn't ask about your extracurriculars. ? Cajuns are the French-speaking swamp-dwelling types in Louisiana... ?
coynegfsa Here's an ad for one on Olx: http://capetown.olx.co.za/kb-series-cajon-iid-493082516 Played around with one in a music store a while back, can be fun. ?
