time out, time in

Soooo, it's been nearly two years since I last logged on and I still happen to remember my details.

Back then things started to change around a bit, I remember some shuffeling around to accomodate other instruments a bit more and ofcourse people getting into each others' hair. Standard procedure I guess ?. But I'm glad to see things are looking pretty normal again (didn't look very far though).

Otherwise I stopped playing round about a year and a half ago, work keeping me too busy, but it keeps on niggling in the back of my mind to dust the old 6stringers off (especially when I hear those songs I never quite mastered :? )

So is there anyone around here that stopped playing for a while and then got themselves going again and how did you motivate yourself to relearn it all again?

Hi Mario, I parked my guitars under my bed for nearly ten years. The urge to play caught up with me again once I moved back to a town. I do regret missing ten years of playing but such is life! Welcome back.

I too went through a phase of not playing for about 18 months (medical issues).
IMO you've already mentioned the key to motivate yourself to play again...

I wouldn't go so far as the-songs-not-mastered-yet stage. Main thing is to continue to listen to music you enjoy and hopefully let it inspire you to pick up your guitar.

Good advice, thanks guys.

I thought about maybe taking up lessons, so that I can work a bit more of a social aspect into it and make it a routine thing to practise aswell.
And it will be a good restart for me I think, 'caus I've never took lessons before, the bit that I knew came from bits and pieces from books, the web, friends and pretty much sitting and figuring out what I wanted to do myself.

Your thoughts on this, or should I stick to what I know my preferences and so forth are?

I dunno Mario...given your current feelings about guitar, opting for lessons might be a bit too soon?
