So i am getting my first camera tomorrow (i took me long enough to not spend money on gear and spend it on something useful for a change)

i looked around for ideas to take pictures of guitars and came across this:

That’s funny, I regard purchasing any thing else besides gear as a waste of money.

I think that this thread should be re-named "Tips on Taking Guitar Photos With a Cell Phone" due to the general consensus that money is ill spent on anything other than guitars. ?

LMAO, I was thinking the same.......if I had enough money for a camera, then it means that I'm not buying enough guitars......

Well i have been taking photos with my cellphone for the last few years.

but i want better photos, so i did some research and came across this camera, the Canon SX240, its a very good camera, and can nail just about anything a pro camera can

it went on special this week for R2000, so i just had to take it

..........i dont want a new cellphone, i love my old Nokia, it out performs most of these modern phones in ease of use ?

Fortunately my wife spends her readies on camera gear, so I get a relatively high level of hand-me-downs if I want.

Actually, she's just "upgraded" from Pentax cameras to Nikon, so I've got a plethora of Pentax' to choose from ATM - (K20, K10, IstD, a couple of film cameras) and a range of lenses from 18 - 500. I'm a point-and-shoot kind of guy, so the K10 with an 18-80 works fine for me.
