I saw this actually on JunkTree first and thought that it's either gone, or there is a catch. Guidothepimp and myself were discussing it until I said, screw it...I want.
Met up with Paul on Saterday and was pleased to see that the body was straight and the neck was perfect, she was dirty and un-loved, but like Paul said, he played it once since December and didn't gel with it, so he decided that it's time to sell.
I held it and actually thought exactly the same thing, but I decided that I'd first let guido have a go on her before I judge. The guitar was already a great deal, but to top it off, it came with a gator hard case as well. SCORE!!!
She was dirty, unloved and as PaulJ mentioned, she had some input jack issues. So guido stripped her back to bare body and started the cleaning of the neck, frets and body, the paint is actually in a damn good condition and the fit and finish off the LTD range is damn impressive, in fact WAY above what my RG470 is. People who compare LTD to squire have NO idea what they are on about. The router cavities and super clean and neat, the attention to detail is way out there.
Some issues that we found. Someone at some stage tried to coil tap this guitar and failed bigtime, an ibanez 5 way switch was installed and some very suspect grounding issues. I still have to get a new input plug as well as change the selector switch, but holy damn she's a nice guitar, plays so smoothly as well. A deff speed demon. Guido...............thanks for sorting her out man..........much appreciated.
I guess it's going to be time to say goodbye to my RG470 sometime soon.
