very cool. i agree that some folks might find it a bit repetitive - the general public, perhaps. thankfully, the general public is not (i imagine) your primary audience, because this is a great track. really good playing, loved the interplay between the strat and the paul, and to my mind you showed off the bite and sting of the strat, contrasting that with the warmer 'bucking driven tone of the paul.
your drummer - larry? - was very cool. nice and tight but not too intense, fun to watch now and then, laid down a good beat. do you guys play together often - you as bassist? thought the rhythm 'section' gelled well. you clearly enjoy yourself on the bass as well.
i see you mention the harp was added in afterwards. well, it doesn't feel like an afterthought to me. there's enough room, and it feels like the time is right in the track. and the guy playing is nasty. in a good way. i'd give me left, well, you know, to play like that.
i watched an listened at 480, but i'd still like to hear it at a higher res. it sounded like a good mix - space for everything, and everything in the right place. the only thing i didn't hear much was the keys, but that's probably a good thing, you don't want them getting in there and muddying things up. was also listening on headphones - albeit relatively decent ones - on my laptop, so not entirely in ideal conditions.
the only thing i have to complain about is that you have once again ignited in me the determination to convince my wife to let me obtain a les paul. i thought i'd squished that bug. but alas...
good stuff peter, really enjoyed it.

Thanks, domhatch,
Yep, my audience is mainly gtr players and other musos but having said that my previous solo instrumental album did very well for and gave me the enthusiasm to record my second one.
It is a riff based track and the groove kind of carried it along.
Larry plays with me in Clint & Co. He's been in the band since August 2009 so we do go back some time. I do enjoy playing bass but obviously if our previous bass player (Mike Dorea) was available he would have played on the entire album. He has since moved from Joburg to Cape Town.
I am in the process of recording two more videos from the album and will put them onto DVD as well. Yes, unfortunately Youtube does have it's issues with quality, synch etc. The originals do sound and look a lot better than the ones on Youtube.
I would suggest that you stop procrastinating and go and buy that Les Paul... you know you want to...
Cheers,
Peter.
