A while back I sold my MIJ strat, as I never really bonded with the big maple neck. Fast forward a few months and I made the mistake of playing a RW neck strat and really enjoyed it. So I spent a few months looking for a strat with some modern appointments like a truss rod you can adjust at the headstock, modern radius, etc. Anyway I lucked out on a condition 1, 2012 American Std strat. The UPS truck dropped it off this morning.
Looked it over, couldn't find a single blemish, all the case candy is included. Really nice rosewood board I will treat with some Fret Doctor eventually.
Highlights spec wise:
Fat 50's Custom shop pickups
Copper Infused High Mass 100% Metal Bridge Block
No-Load Tone Control for the Middle and Bridge Pickups
I prefer this case to the molded one I had, these latches feel more solid.
I did a mini setup to adjust the relief, lower trem a little and intonation was pretty much spot on.
The videos I watched with the Fat 50s pups didn't really impress me, but they sound great into my Deluxe Reverb. All the classic strat tones are there, minus the icepicks. I enjoy the smaller neck and the rosewood board feels great. Eventually I will probably take it to be setup with 10s, as it came with 9s, but for the moment I like the feel of the 9s.
Obligatory pic, I am very chuffed ?
