The Challenge March 2013

Renesongs · 2013-03-03T23:39:32+00:00

Here is the theme for next months competition: Something with Delay This idea is actually from Kalcium, and I thought it would make a great theme. So for all the pedal board/effect junkies, this is where you can jump on board. There is no limitations on genre or style, but only that your song features delays. The 4 instrument restriction applies, but if you want to make 3 guitars do something delayed or a full band and only one guitar delay, then that is up to you. *Vocals are a of course always a freebie The winning entry should be judged based on: 1) Creativity 2) Originality and 3) Its melodic impact (i.e. could you remember the tune after listening to it) Entries to be PMed to me no later than 23:59:59.9 Sunday 2nd April 2013 CE Enjoy!

You have a nemesis? Intriguing ?
Nah, it's just my nickname for Dewald!

LOL, I'm not so sure I much deserve that nickname anymore. It's been some time since I last made any kind of impression or indeed took part. And I seem to recall that on the last occasion where we went head to head I had my butt handed to me. With the wife about to produce a baby I'm not even sure I'll get around to recording one this month either but then again, even if I stand no chance against the likes of Alan or Evo, I have this burning desire to just cut Hammeron back to size again ? Let's see...

Don't forget that if there are enough entries, they will be split into up to three skill levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Joe Moore wrote Watch out guys ! I reckon some Roland GR-55 guitar synth awesomeness will be used here by Alan ! ?

Probably not, but I am working on a "party piece" with two delays and a pitch shift. ?

evolucian

Ag... you guys are giving me too much credit. This will be the first song I'm writing in a very long time and I have this distinct feeling I'm gonna bomb in the intro already. You know... lavish ideas and such... man proposes, God disposes.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut I'm pretty sure I can push the record button for now ?

Hammeron

Now that I have a decent record button to push {Thanks Shaun ?}, I'm gonna push it on this one. Puts me under pressure to attempt my first solo multitrack.

Gee, I kind of want to give this one a go but I am feeling extremely intimidated.

Don't delay, enter today!

ok I'll stop now. :-[

What's intimidating you? The effect or members? You learn when you participate, thats all I can think of. I still can't find the record button but I haven't given up looking... well, not completely

DonovanB

Yip, you get zero input or reward if you don't enter.

AlanRatcliffe

It's been said often before, but well worth repeating: everyone who enters a competition wins, regardless of playing level or results.

It pains me that I don't often have the time to enter as a lot of new material I have came from competition entries and I've stretched myself in directions I would never have gone without them.

Norman86

oh well.. looks like im out.. i have been going to potch almost every second day for the past week, and it looks like im going again tomorrow..

I have a feeling my pm's dont work....

AlanRatcliffe

I got a call this morning asking for an extension due to the long weekend. I'm inclined to agree as I had a busy one gig-wise too and have not done my own entry yet (or even unpacked my gear).

Any objections? Just a day or two.,..

DonovanB

So We are delaying the voting? ?

That means I can crack one in on Tuesday?

AlanRatcliffe

I have a vested interest so I'm not going to decide unilaterally. But provided Rene agrees. And provided others don't object...

So I take it that's a vote in favour Donovan?

DonovanB

Yes I'm in favour.

?

briang-telkomsa-net

mmm.... ok >☹

Actually, no problems from my side - would like to hear your entry Alan.
What can we do to you if you don't meet the "delayed" deadline? ?
