stompie I was wondering, we all know there are chords that sound sad, I've heard people say that the d minor is the saddest sounding chord, so i wondered if there is a happiest sounding chord or chord progression, maybe a scale that makes you happy? For me just being able to play the guitar makes me happy though. ?
vic Very sad sounding is A min to E min Happy sounding is any major chord change eg. A to D to E "In love" sounding is typically say A to C#min to B min to E ?
stompie This topic can almost change to "What emotions can you get from chords, or the guitar? ? Like scary sounds from a diminished chord.

chrisbark Not sure about the sincerity index here ... but some interesting stuff from wikipedia "Nigel Tufnel, one of the members of the musical spoof megagroup Spinal Tap speaks of "a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why." My playing also seems to have that effect on people, no matter what key I play in ? In the Baroque period, D major was regarded as "the key of glory";[1] hence many trumpet concertos were in D major, such as those by Fasch, Gross, Molter (No. 2), Leopold Mozart, Telemann (No. 2), and Giuseppe Torelli. Many trumpet sonatas were in D major, too, such as those by Corelli, Franceschini, Purcell, and Torelli. "The Trumpet Shall Sound" and the "Hallelujah" chorus from Handel's Messiah, and his coronation anthem Zadok the Priest are in D major. Personally I think the saddest chord is a power chord (ducks)
