The body is all nice n old, paint chips everywhere, dings and scratches galore, although they dont photograph well. A younger me wouldve sanded the crap out of it and resprayed it, but I know better now.
Heres the guitar as I got it, in bad shape (but not terrible).
When taping up the fretboard to polish the frets, I noticed one of the inlays were lose, so had to fix that too.
The pots were in terrible shape, the previous owner glued the speed style knobs onto the stalks, and it was a nightmare to get them stripped. Popped in 4 new pots, rewired them and fitted tophats.
Had to scuff up the new pickguard as it looked waaay to new on the guitar, just went over it with the green end of a dishwashing sponge, and soaked it in a few shots of espresso for a few days (not like it yellowed anything tho). Still looking for a surefire way of ageing white plastics quickly.
And here she is now, all strung up and playing really, really well. Had my doubts about how itll play, as I've read mixed reviews, and most people say some Hondo's play like kak and others dont. Guess I'm in the lucky bunch of Hondo owners then.
Oh, and she's an absolute beauty.
